Russian President Vladimir Putin first revealed he was involved in “illegal espionage” while working at the KGB’s National Security Agency.
Mr Putin joined the KGB in 1975, operating in Dresden, Germany, for the period 1985-1990. When the Soviet Union broke up, the KGB stopped functioning. FSB – intelligence agency successor KGB – was born after that. In the late 1990s, Putin became the head of the FSB.
